The Authority of Jesus

Mark 1:16-20
And as He walked by the Sea of Galilee,
He saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.

17 Then Jesus said to them,

"Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men." 18 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

19 When He had gone a little farther from there,
He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending their nets.

20 And immediately He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants,

and went after Him. NKJV

Matthew 28:18-20

"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always,
even to the end of the age." Amen.
NKJV

Acts 1:8

8 But you shall receive power
when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me
in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
NKJV

Authority over Demons

Mark 1:21-28

Then they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and taught.

22 And they were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

23 Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out,

24 saying, "Let us alone!
What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us?

I know who You are — the Holy One of God!"

25 But Jesus rebuked him, saying,

"Be quiet,
and come out of him!"

26 And when the unclean spirit had convulsed him and cried out with a loud voice,
he came out of him.

27 Then they were all amazed,
so that they questioned among themselves, saying, "What is this?
What new doctrine is this?
For with authority He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him."

28 And immediately His fame spread throughout all the region around Galilee.

Authority over Sickness

Mark 1:29-31

Now as soon as they had come out of the synagogue, they entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.

30 But Simon's wife's mother lay sick with a fever, and they told Him about her at once.

31 So He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and immediately the fever left her.
And she served them.

Authority over Sickness, all Diseases, and Demons

Mark 1:32-34

At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those who were demon-possessed.

33 And the whole city was gathered together at the door.

34 Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons;
and
He did not allow the demons to speak,
because they knew Him
.
NKJV

How did they know Him?

Revelation 12:3-4

3 And another sign appeared in heaven:
behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads.

4 His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth.
NKJV

Revelation 12:7-9

And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels
fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought,
8 but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer.

9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old
, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. NKJV

Mark 1:35-39
Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place;
and there He prayed.

36 And Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him. 37 When they found Him, they said to Him,

"Everyone is looking for You."

38 But He said to them,

"Let us go into the next towns,
that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth."

39 And He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and casting out demons.

Authority over Leprosy

Mark 1:40-45
Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him,

kneeling down to Him and saying to Him,

"If You are willing, You can make me clean."

41 Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him,
"I am willing; be cleansed."

42 As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed.

43 And He strictly warned him and sent him away at once,

44 and said to him,
"See that you say nothing to anyone; but go your way,
show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing

those things which Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."

Leviticus 14:1-7

Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

2 "This shall be the law of the leper for the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought to the priest.

3 And the priest shall go out of the camp, and the priest shall examine him;
and indeed, if the leprosy is healed in the leper,

4 then the priest shall command to take for him who is to be cleansed two living and clean birds,
cedar wood, scarlet, and hyssop.

5 And the priest shall command that
one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over running water.

6 As for the living bird, he shall take it,
the cedar wood and the scarlet and the hyssop,
and dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water.

7 And he shall sprinkle it seven times
on him who is to be cleansed from the leprosy, and shall pronounce him clean,
and shall let the living bird loose in the open field. NKJV

Mark 1:45

45 However, he went out and began to proclaim it freely, and to spread the matter,

so that Jesus could no longer openly enter the city, but was outside in deserted places;
and they came to Him from every direction. NKJV

Here we see the healing power of Jesus. Can Jesus Heal?

Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

If you can believe this verse, you can believe in all God can do.

Why did Jesus HEAL the sick?

Matthew 11:2-5

2 And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples

3 and said to Him, "Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?"

4 Jesus answered and said to them,
"Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:

5 The blind see
and the lame walk;
the lepers are cleansed
and the deaf hear;
the dead are raised up
and the poor have the gospel preached to them. NKJV

Signs of the Apostles

2 Corinthians 12:12
12 Truly the signs of an apostle were accomplished among you with all perseverance,
in signs and wonders and mighty deeds. NKJV

Hebrews 2:3-4

3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,

4 God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles,
and gifts of the Holy Spirit,
according to His own will?

Are There HEALERS today? NO!

Does God heal all? 2 Timothy 4:19-20

Greet Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.

20 Erastus stayed in Corinth,
but Trophimus I have left in Miletus sick.

1 Timothy 5:23

23 No longer drink only water,
but use a little wine for your stomach's sake

and your frequent infirmities.

2 Corinthians 4:16- 18

Therefore we do not lose heart.
Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.

17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment,
is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,

18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen.
For the things which are seen are temporary,
but the things which are not seen are eternal.

2 Corinthians 1:8-9

For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia:

that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength,
so that we despaired even of life.

9 Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves

but in God who raises the dead, NKJV

2 Corinthians 12:7-10

And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations,
a thorn in the flesh was given to me,
a messenger of Satan to buffet me,

lest I be exalted above measure.

8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.

9 And He said to me,
"My grace is sufficient for you,
for My strength is made perfect in weakness."

Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches,
in needs,
in persecutions,
in distresses,
for Christ's sake.
For when I am weak, then I am strong. NKJV
