Why We Need A Good Lawyer

1 John 2:1-2

1 John 1:5-7

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you,
that God is light
and in Him is no darkness at all.

6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness,
we lie and do not practice the truth.

7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
NKJV

1 John 2:3-6
Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.

4 He who says, "I know Him,"
and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

5 But whoever keeps His word,
truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.

6 He who says he abides in Him
ought himself also to walk just as He walked. NKJV

1 John 2:9-11
9 He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother,
is in darkness until now.

10 He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.

11 But he who hates his brother
is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. NKJV

1 John 2:15-17

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world,
the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world —
the lust of the flesh,
the lust of the eyes,
and the pride of life —
is not of the Father but is of the world.

17 And the world is passing away,
and the lust of it;
but he who does the will of God abides forever. NKJV

1 John 2:19
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us,
they would have continued with us;
but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.
NKJV

1 John 2:28-29
And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears,
we may have confidence
and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

29 If you know that He is righteous,
you know that
everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him. NKJV

1 John 3:6-9
6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.

7 Little children, let no one deceive you.
He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.

8 He who sins is of the devil,
for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested,

that He might destroy the works of the devil.

9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him;
and he cannot sin,
because he has been born of God.
NKJV

1 John 3:10-11
In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest:
Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.

11 For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,
NKJV

1 John 3:14-15

14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren.
He who does not love his brother abides in death.

15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that
no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. NKJV

1 John 3:23-24

23 And this is His commandment:
that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him.
And by this we know that He abides in us,
by the Spirit whom He has given us.
NKJV

1 John 4:7-8
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God

and knows God.

8 He who does not love
does not know God, for God is love.

NKJV

1 John 4:20-21
If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?

21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also. NKJV

Romans 6:1-2

What shall we say then?
Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?

2 Certainly not!
How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? NKJV

Our Prosecuting Attorney

Revelation 12:10

10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come,
for the accuser of our brethren,
who accused them before our God day and night,... NKJV

Our Advocate -- The One who pleads our case

1 John 2:1

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin.
And if anyone sins,
we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
NKJV

The Basis of His Case

1 John 2:2
2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. NKJV

Hebrews 7:25

25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him,
since He always lives to make intercession for them. NKJV

2 Corinthians 5:21

21 For He made Him who knew no sin
to be sin for us,
that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. NKJV

1 Peter 2:24-25

24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness — by whose stripes you were healed.

25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. NKJV

Romans 8:1-2
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. NKJV

Romans 8:33-34
33 Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies.

34 Who is he who condemns?
It is Christ who died,
and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. NKJV

Romans 8:37-39

37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers,
nor things present nor things to come,

39 nor height nor depth,
nor any other created thing,
shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
NKJV
